The Chamberlain garage door opener model WD822KD is a quiet, 1/2 HP belt drive garage door opener ideally suited for homes with living space above the garage.
The WD822KD is another opener in Chamberlain’s “Whisper Drive” line, noted for their smooth and powerful, yet quiet operation (watch the video review, below).
Consumers give high marks to this model, especially for standard, seven foot high doors on single and double car garages.
If your garage door is taller than seven feet, Chamberlain does offer extension kits for 8 and 10 foot doors. The added cost is about $50.
One advantage to paying a little more for this model over a stripped down model is the included accessories, like three button remotes, wireless, keyless entry system and an illuminated multi-function control panel for inside the garage.The Chamberlain garage door opener model WD822KD is designed for the do-it-yourself market and is relatively easy to install. Plan on 3 to 4 hours for installation if you are pretty handy. Having a helper makes the job much easier.
NOTE: After many years as one of the best garage door openers on the market, Chamberlain replaced this model with the new WD832KEV. Features and benefits are similar, except that the WD832KEV is modern styling and includes Chamberlain’s MyQ® technology.
